It’s no secret that there are a number of superstars in the WWE that aren’t living up to expectations, and terrible gimmick choices do play a role in their development.
Some stars have suffered through terrible gimmicks before turning their entire careers around and have found success.

AXELMANIA NO LONGER RUNNIN' WILD
One of the gimmicks that we will definitely no longer see on our screens is Curtis Axel portraying the Axelmania gimmick.
For this, Axel shaved his beard and bleached his moustache whilst wearing the Hulk Hogan attire.
Due to the recent controversial racism claims, the WWE have severed all ties with Hulk Hogan, therefore that gimmick will also no longer be portrayed in the WWE.
Axel has since shaved the moustache and dropped the attire as well as the gimmick, and is now competing in different attire as you can see in the image.
Another superstar who has suffered a gimmick change due to the Hulk Hogan racism claims is Damien Sandow.
Sandow has suffered from a number of gimmick changes. He was highly entertaining as the intellectual saviour of the unwashed masses.
He unsuccessfully cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase before impersonating a number of high-profile celebrities.
He then found success as The Miz’ stunt double, competing as Damien Mizdow.
Since then, he has teamed with Axel and performed under the moniker ‘Macho Mandow’ as the duo adopted the name ‘The Meta Powers’.
Rumours now suggest Sandow could use a rapper gimmick, one similar to the one he uses on Xavier Woods’ YouTube channel; Up Up Down Down.
Although it’s entertaining on YouTube, it remains to be seen whether the WWE will trigger the gimmick change any time soon.
This one is a little more interesting. Based on an image the WWE Universe Twitter account posted, it looks as if Adam Rose and Brad Maddox could be teaming up.
Recently, Rose had been teasing a potential return to the Leo Kruger character which he used in FCW and on NXT before it was dropped.
Maddox hasn’t had much success as a competitor and it will be interesting to see whether the WWE will pair the two up full-time, as they used the name ‘Beef Mode’ when they teamed up on live events.
Although it doesn’t do a lot for Rose as a singles superstar, having him compete in a team which could make the tag team division more competitive, it wouldn’t be so bad.
