Manchester United have forced Paris Saint-Germain to pay an extra £3 million for Angel di Maria after the Argentina international was photographed in Qatar this week.
Di Maria was granted permission to speak with PSG, but United boss Louis van Gaal was furious to discover the 27-year-old had flown to Qatar to meet the club’s owner.
The Mirror understand that Old Trafford officials had pulled the plug on the original £43 million deal, but agreed once again to sell the unsettled South American after being offered an extra £3 million - bringing the total fee to £46 million.

Manchester United and PSG are expected to finalise the transfer within the next couple of days - and it will undoubtedly come as a huge relief to Di Maria when the deal is done.
The former Real Madrid star has already been fined two weeks wages by Manchester United after failing to meet up with his teammates in the United States last month - costing him a reported £360,000 - as his ill-fated spell with the Red Devils ends on a sour note.

Di Maria leaves United on bad terms
Van Gaal told reporters he had no idea where Di Maria was following United’s 2-0 defeat to PSG last week, while reports emerged on Tuesday claiming the Dutch coach was the main reason why the most expensive signing in British football history is desperate to leave Old Trafford.
Although the attempted break-in at his Prestbury mansion earlier this year clearly unsettled Di Maria and his young family, it was by no means the only reason behind the Argentine’s decision to leave the English giants this summer.
Di Maria has said very little over the past few weeks, but told BeIn Sports on Tuesday: “I am very happy to join PSG. What I know about PSG is that it is a team that won all the possible trophies in France last season. This is very important for the club. I also know that I want to overcome the obstacle that is the quarter finals of the Champions League.
"I am going to try to bring the best of my abilities to put myself at the service of this team. We are going to try and go as far as possible in the Champions League.”
Pedro to replace Di Maria
Manchester United are poised to replace Di Maria with Barcelona’s versatile forward Pedro, who will have the opportunity to cement his place on the right-hand side of the Red Devils’ attack this term.
United hope to finalise a £22 million deal for the 28-year-old once Di Maria’s transfer to PSG is completed.
