Senna shrugs off favourites tag

Midfielder Marcos Senna insists he is unconcerned by Spain being installed as one of the favourites for Euro 2008, but admits they need to prove it where it matters.

Despite having only progressed past the quarter-final stage once in the European Championships since winning it on home soil back in 1964, Spain are highly fancied to go all the way in Austria and Switzerland this summer.

For a nation that has earned a reputation for underachieving on the biggest stage, that favourites tag might sit uneasily on some Spanish shoulders, but for Senna it is no big deal. He said: "It does not bother me because I think we are favourites, but we have to show it on the pitch."
