Chelsea fans may be surprised at how quiet Jose Mourinho has been in this summer’s transfer window, with the Blues having only secured deals for Radamel Falcao and Asmir Begovic.
What goes on under wraps in the world of football’s most frenetic market however isn’t always open to the public eye, and Spanish newspaper Marca have an interesting claim this morning regarding Chelsea and Atletico Madrid ace Koke.
They say the Blues were one of the clubs to make a huge offer for the midfielder, though no specific details over the fee are available.
Martinez' illegal claim
In more concrete news Everton boss Roberto Martinez has accused John Terry of illegally tapping up John Stones.
The Spaniard stated that it was illegal to talk about players signed to other clubs in the way Terry has, though it’s yet unclear if the ex-England captain’s comments have had any overbearing effect on Stones’ future. More on that as it comes through.
Benteke and Hazard
Lastly, Christian Benteke has claimed that Eden Hazard text him after he joined Liverpool, with what some might deem to be a message intended to start a rivalry.
The two play for Belgium together so the idea of them conversing isn’t all that hard to believe, but nevertheless the prospect of them having a bit of back and forth behind the scenes - no, that’s not a euphemism - will tantalise fans.
