Kempes on Otamendi

Valencia are still trying desperately to stop Nicolas Otamendi from leaving this summer, despite the fact the Argentina international has been hotly linked with a move to Manchester United.

That’s according to club legend Mario Kempes, who says that it won’t be long before Otamendi decides to give up on his ambitions to move to pastures new.

“I think it’s going to stay,” Kempes said.

“The club has told me they are doing everything possible for him to stay.

“It is important for the club and for him. It will not be long before he decides to stay.”

Any self-respecting United fan will tell you that Louis van Gaal needs to sign a new centre-back, so we’re not sure where that leaves him. It’s highly likely we’ll find out in the coming days though.

Di Maria's fond farewell

Meanwhile Angel Di Maria has issued an apology-ridden farewell letter to United fans, claiming he’s ‘sorry’ things didn’t work out.

The Argentina international said he did his best at Old Trafford but it simply didn’t work out. Unsurprisingly he didn’t mention the fact that he went AWOL before pushing for a move to PSG. We’re not sure why.

De Gea dropped

Last but not least Van Gaal has dropped David de Gea for the upcoming Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dutchman confirmed before United’s first game of the new season that the speculation surrounding De Gea’s future was too intense to give him the right frame of mind. Either Victor Valdes or Sergio Romero could start in his stead.
