AFC Bournemouth are poised to complete the signing of 18-year-old Mason Holgate from Barnsley, reports Alan Nixon of The Sun.
Last month the Mail Online reported that Holgate went on trial with Manchester United after the youngster rejected the chance to extend his contract at League One side Barnsley.
Eddie Howe's men are now set to be in the driving seat to secure the services of Holgate for an expected £1 million, although this figure is likely to increase depending on add-ons.

The Doncaster born defender was a regular feature in the second half of last season for the Tykes, going some way to boosting the fortunes of Barnsley.
Holgate scored his first professional goal on the final day of last season in a 5-0 thumping of Rochdale at Oakwell.
CORNICK JOINS GLOVERS
Harry Cornick has joined Yeovil Town on a month's loan from Bournemouth. The 20-year-old is yet to break into The Cherries line-up but has enjoyed loan spells at Welling United, Aldershot Town and Havant & Waterlooville in the past year.
On completing the signing of Cornick, Yeovil boss Paul Sturrock said: "He is an exciting talent who works the lines. He has two strings to his bow as he can play on the wing or as a centre forward."
Yeovil take on Exeter City tomorrow afternoon.
