West Brom are set to complete a club record transfer of £15 million for Salomon Rondon from Zenit St Petersburg, according to the Mail Online.

The 25-year-old has impressed during his time in Russia, scoring 20 goals in 37 league games last season, attracting attention from a number of clubs.

The Venezuelan is expected to arrive in the midlands tomorrow for a medical but will be unable to feature in Monday night's opening fixture against Manchester City.

Albion's current record transfer, Brown Ideye, has failed to live up to expectations and managed just four goals in the Premier League last season. The club are said to be open to offers of around £6 million for the Nigerian striker.

Elsewhere, the West Midlands side have today secured the signing of Arsenal youngster Serge Gnabry on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old winger has featured three times for Germany Under 21's this year, although injury has played a big part in delaying his progress so far at club level.

Tony Pulis has also recruited James McClean and James Chester from Wigan Athletic and Hull City respectively, but is still on the lookout for a couple of new additions to his squad.
