Could WWE be set to unveil a new championship?

It wasn't so long ago that the WWE Universe were forced to endure Paige vs Nikki or Brie Bella off and on for almost a month after AJ Lee retired and left the creative team with a massive hole in their storyline.

Fast forward a month and now WWE has more divas than they know what to do with and there is now speculation that a WWE Divas Tag Team Championship could be in the works.

It's almost four weeks since Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Sasha Banks set alight the main roster with their impressive debuts and put the current divas roster on notice, but it seems WWE are happy to keep rotating divas tag team matches rather than focus any one person on the Divas Championship.

LONGEST REIGNING DIVAS CHAMPION?

Nikki Bella has held the Divas Championship almost unchallenged since Survivor Series last year when she defeated AJ Lee.

Since then the Divas Title has been defended more times on Raw than it has on pay-per-views, and after The Royal Rumble and WrestleMania both preferred tag matches instead of championship ones, it seems the seeds were planted for a Divas Tag Team Championship.

Nikki only has to make it to the 15th of September and she will become the longest reigning Divas Champion. With all the focus currently on the three teams; PCB, Team Bella and BAD, it could be plain sailing for the two time champion to create history.

The only person who could have a legitimate claim to the title heading into SummerSlam now is Charlotte after she forced Nikki to tap to the Figure Eight.

WWE logic dictates that any form of win over a champion allows a match for the championship, so hopefully Charlotte will raise this in the coming weeks and their could actually be two matches on the four hour SummerSlam spectacular card.

SUMMERSLAM?

Last year's SummerSlam saw three divas matches as AJ Lee defended her Divas Championship against Birthday girl Paige and Brie Bella faced off against Stephanie McMahon whilst Cameron and Naomi settled their differences on the kick off show. Could WWE give the women the same opportunity this year?

If WWE are seriously considering taking TNA's lead and producing a Divas Tag Team Championship then there has to be a tag team match at one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year.

Given the amount of divas currently on the roster this wouldn't be hard to set up. Nikki could take on Charlotte for the Divas Championship but with Alicia Fox currently out injured it seem the match would have to see Paige and Becky take on two members of Team BAD, which could then open the door to an even bigger revolution down the road.

Could a Tag Team Championship for the divas add more legitimacy to the revolution? Or is it spotlighting the divas to much whilst male title belts are currently being ineffectively booked? Have your say in the comments section below.
