Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito is set to be sidelined for the next six months due to a serious knee injury.

The Argentina international complained of a knee problem following last week´s Champions League semi-final with Manchester United, during which he played the full 90 minutes, and tests have subsequently confirmed he has damaged ligaments.

The Barcelona medical team said in a statement: "After the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford Gaby Milito ended with discomfort in his right knee that required clinical exploration and the corresponding tests."
