Torrey Smith has requested for Colin Kaepernick to have more faith and target the newly acquired San Francisco 49ers wide receiver when throwing down field.
The 26-year-old joined the 49ers this past offseason from the Baltimore Ravens after signing a five-year deal worth $40 million in March this year. On the first day of training camp, Kaepernick connected with Smith with a deep ball but since then, the two haven’t connected long much.
This has resulted in the Super Bowl XLVII winner asking for more shots downfield.

He said to the San Jose Mercury News: "It's not that I feel like I'm a speed demon or the fastest man in the world or anything. But sometimes I feel, 'Hey, I can run, bro. You can throw it out there and I'm going to go get it for you.'"
The speedy wide receiver averaged 16.9 yards per catch during his four year stay with the Ravens, showing he definitely is a deep threat that needs to be capitalised on immediately come week one. Targeting him now during camp will be a good start, to make sure the connections are fluent and clean.
Teammate Anquan Boldin, who was also part of the Ravens Super Bowl winning team, said: "It's definitely an adjustment for Kap. A guy with that kind of speed, you have to learn how to throw to him, and they're still in that stage."
Kaepernick has recognised this as well as he said: "He's shown he can make plays in big-time situations. That's something we want to take advantage of."
After all the setbacks that have occurred on both sides of the ball over the course of the offseason with many players either leaving, retiring, or being fired by the franchise, at least with this partnership 49ers fans have something to look forward to next season.
