With this year’s SummerSlam set to be a four hour spectacular, the plan for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is still not set in stone.
Last week on Monday Night Raw, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins laid down the challenge to United States Champion; John Cena.
Both championship titles are set to be up for grabs, with the winner holding both of them.

But Cena hasn’t been in action over the last couple of weeks, recovering from the broken nose he suffered thanks to Rollins’ knee to his face.
Right now the plan is still in place for the two to go at it at SummerSlam for both championships, but the WWE are aware of the fact that Cena might not be able to make it to the event.
Rollins has done a fantastic job of keeping the feud between the two alive, so there is some hype at least even if they don’t participate in the champion vs. champion, title vs. title match.
We have seen him brag about breaking Cena’s nose. He’s debuted a new t-shirt mocking the Cena t-shirts. He continued the mocking this past week on Raw, when he dubbed his mouth over Cena’s picture, building up Rollins as the superior star.
SHEAMUS VS. RANDY ORTON
This had to be done, there’s no other way about it.
If Rollins didn’t mock Cena and the two competed in a match, it would feel like there was no build towards the match with both titles on the line.
However, the WWE do have the back-up plan in place if Cena isn’t able to compete at SummerSlam.
There is one match on the four hour SummerSlam card that fans aren’t really looking forward to again, Sheamus vs. Randy Orton.
We’ve seen the matche before numerous times, and they don’t really get the WWE Universe excited as there’s nothing at stake.
It’s not a match the WWE Universe wants to see, but it’s one we will receive.
Fans have called for Sheamus to defend his Money in the Bank briefcase against Orton to add something to the match, but if Cena is unable to compete then that match won’t go ahead at all.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio has revealed that the match they could go with is a triple threat match.
This will see Rollins defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Orton and Mr. Money in the Bank, Sheamus.
Again, it’s not something the fans will probably be too excited by, as it means Cena and Rollins will clash a month later.
The prospect of having one man hold the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship is intriguing and it’s something we would all love to see, and we thought SummerSlam would be the night it happens.
Triple H did mention that Cena is currently 50-50 to be cleared for SummerSlam.
Here’s hoping Cena is cleared to wrestle, and we tune in to SummerSlam not knowing who will walk out with the titles.
