Bastian Schweinsteiger has further endeared himself to the Manchester United supporters by offering to send new signed shirts to anyone who recently purchased a jersey featuring his pre-season number.
The complete midfielder, who made his Premier League debut in the 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday, wore number 23 on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States before switching to number 31 last week.
Schweinsteiger wore No. 31 at Bayern Munich and successfully convinced Marouane Fellaini to give up the squad number this summer - but not all Manchester United fans were happy with the news.

A fan named Florian Mocker posted a message to Schweinsteiger, showing himself wearing a No. 23 shirt with the name of his hero on the back.
“Please please help me! You’re my soccer God,” the fan proclaimed on the social networking website.
And help Mr. Mocker he did.
Schweinsteiger posted the following reply, appealing for other fans in Florian’s position to also get in touch via Facebook.
“What a pity, Florian. I will send you a signed jersey in order to help you out here. Thank you for your great support!“ the German World Cup winner wrote on Facebook. “Amongst all other fans, who send in a picture wearing one of my old jerseys, I will give away 31 Manchester United jerseys. Just publish your image as a comment under this post. Looking forward to receiving your pictures”
