Eto´o plays down quit threat

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto´o has sought to clarify the comments he made at the weekend about his future at the Nou Camp, insisting he never threatened to quit the club.

Eto´o was quoted as saying he would look to leave Barca if their barren trophy spell continued throughout next season, with the Catalan giants´ last piece of major silverware coming back in 2006.

But the 27-year-old denied threatening to walk out on the club and told Spanish radio station Cadena SER: "I am surprised by all this reaction. I want to make it clear that I never threatened to leave Barcelona."
