Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has confirmed that youngster Adnan Januzaj isn't for sale.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow night's Premier League clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park, the Red Devils chief has insisted that Januzaj won't be departing Old Trafford in this transfer window.

Januzaj, of course, failed to secure a place in the Red Devils' squad for their season-opener with Tottenham last weekend, however it appears that the wide-man will still have a role to play this term, as the club go in search of success on both the domestic and European scene.

After enjoying a fine debut campaign in the first-team under the guidance of David Moyes, Januzaj struggled to prove himself in 2014/15, so it's not entirely surprising that he has been linked with a move away from the club over the course of the summer.

In fact, of late, Januzaj has been linked with a loan move to Premier League outfit Sunderland, but it appears that he isn't going anywhere.

Surprising

In truth, Van Gaal's comments are slightly surprising considering he opted to leave Januzaj out of his first Premier League squad for the new season.

With the duo of Javier Hernandez and Andreas Pereira making the bench for the Spurs clash, Januzaj would have no doubt been left disappointed by his exclusion, however he may well be handed a role to play this term.

Clearly, then, if Van Gaal wants to keep his No.11 at the club, then he will look to utilise him. With European competition set to return to Old Trafford, then surely there will be more opportunities for the exciting youngster to prove his credentials once again in Manchester.
