Mexico Football Federation president Justino Compean has revealed former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and Marcello Lippi are among the candidates to take charge of the national team for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Compean confirmed that Mexican Football Federation general secretary Decio de Maria will speak with the two currently unemployed coaches about the position following the dismissal of Hugo Sanchez late last month. Mourinho, who left Stamford Bridge early this season, and Lippi join a wish list that also includes Portugal head coach Felipe Scolari and Atletico Madrid boss Javier Aguirre.

"De Maria will fly out next weekend to interview them," said Compean. "We have appointments with Scolari and Lippi and we are also looking to meet Mourinho. We want to know firstly if they are interested in working here."
