2012 saw an ageing roster, complete with a champion being booked in the mid-card and part-time prize-fighters such as Brock Lesnar and The Rock holding the main event to ransom.
The WWE Universe craved an injection of new life, youth and a star to ride the main event wave without doing so in fluorescent colours and age old catchphrases. WWE responded by delivering the three most exciting talents since OVW's infamous class of 02', in the form of the tantalising trio - The Shield.
For almost two years, The Shield reigned supreme capturing the tag team and United States championships, along with two WrestleMania victories and angles involving stars like The Undertaker, The Rock and CM Punk.

On June 2 2014, Seth Rollins, along with the Authority and an unforgiving Steel Chair, put an end to The Shield and paved the way for an incredible year.
It involved two main event title matches for Dean Ambrose, a Royal Rumble victory and WrestleMania main event for Roman Reigns and most famously a Money In The Bank cash-in for Seth Rollins leading to one of the most memorable title victories in Wrestlemania history.
So what is next for these three stars on the verge of a Hall of Fame career? Make history. The stage is Wrestlemania 32 and the last match on the card (after The Undertaker, Triple H, The Rock, Brock Lesnar etc; symbolic of how far WWE has come since 2012's part time fiasco) is the first ever 60 minute Iron Man triple threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
With the match quality these stars deliver week in week out we will undoubtedly have a match to remember for years to come.
So how do WWE book such a memorable match? Well, with the rumoured heel turn for Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam, the niceties between him and Reigns will surely come to a close, leading to a huge rivalry.
Rollins the Champ
In the mean time, Rollins keeps the title until WrestleMania by any means necessary, allowing Reigns to challenge for the title upon winning the Royal Rumble. At the end of the rumble match, Ambrose brutally attacks Reigns, ruining his big moment (also keeping the fans satisfied after Reigns wins a second Royal Rumble).
In the coming weeks he demands a match to get his hands on Ambrose, who agrees as long as Reigns' spot in the main event is put on the line at 'Fast Lane'. The following week The Authority announce Seth Rollins as the special guest referee and the main event is set.
After a lengthy, back and forth match, Rollins attacks both Ambrose and Reigns leaving a no contest result - setting up the main event for Wrestlemania 32.
