Mutu fires Fiorentina in last four

A virtuoso performance by Adrian Mutu inspired Fiorentina to a 2-0 victory at PSV Eindhoven and secured their passage into the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup.

Mutu struck at either side of half-time, his opener a stunning 30-yard strike, as the Italians dominated at the Philips Stadion to earn a 3-1 aggregate success and book a meeting with Rangers in the last four.

The hosts could have kept themselves in contention with 10 minutes remaining but Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey saved Timmy Simons´ spot-kick.
