Jean-Claude Darcheville fired Rangers another step closer to the UEFA Cup final by setting the ball rolling in a memorable 2-0 win over Sporting Lisbon.

Substitute Steven Whittaker then helped himself to a goal of his own deep into injury time to provide the perfect end to a sensational night in Portugal.

The 2-0 aggregate win means Rangers will appear in the last four of the competition for the first time when they face Fiorentina, who defeated PSV Eindhoven.
