Pittsburgh Steelers vs Jacksonville Jaguars pre-game predictions

Jacksonville, Florida, will be the location for the Pittsburgh Steelers' second pre season game this year, and coming off a disappointing loss the week before I guarantee you the Steelers will want to win this one.

Big guns return

Unlike last week's game, this one will include starters such as Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell.

This will add to the excitement a little as it will be our first look at the "Killer B's" (Ben, Brown, Bell) of the new year. Despite the fact they will only play a drive or two, it is still something to be excited about and hopefully they can put some points on the board before they retire to the benches.

Now, as we all know, last week's performance was not good enough, it wasn't disastrous, but it certainly wasn't good enough to win.

So  it is worth outlining some areas the Steelers need to improve on in this week's game, things you should be watching out for specifically and things fans will hope to see.

DEFENSIVE TURNOVERS

I want to see turnovers in this game, I want to see our defence force at least a couple of turnovers vs the Jaguars.

Kevin Fogg had an interception last week but I want more than that this week. This team is capable of leading the league in turnovers, I know it is, we have playmakers all over the defence.

Mike Mitchell had some great years in Carolina and Oakland, Brandon Boykin, he had six interceptions in 2013. William Gay led the league in interceptions returned for touchdowns last year.

We have one of the most athletic linebackers to ever come out of college in Ryan Shazier and we drafted some of the best ball-hawking corners in Senquez Golson and Doran Grant this year. Give me one reason why those players can't make this defence a turnover generating monster?

The battle to become that turnover monster starts here in Jacksonville. The Jaguars aren't exactly a team known for great ball security so two or three turnovers in this game would be a great confidence booster for this young Steelers defence. Tomlin and Colbert have invested a lot to help this defence get more turnovers, I want to see it accumulate in this game.

BETTER PLAY FROM LANDRY JONES

Landry Jones was the epitome of average last Sunday. He threw for 135-yards at a 50% completion rate and helped put three points on the board. Landry seriously needs to get his act together and start playing like he wants to be this team's backup quarterback.

I want to see Landry throw for more yards, throw at least a touchdown and help us get more than three points on the board, at the bare minimum he needs to accomplish that last one.

He will be working with more established receivers in this game though so he should have every opportunity to fulfil all my wishes.

GARRETT HARTLEY'S PERFORMANCE

Yes, indeed I am excited to see how the veteran Hartley not only looks in the black and gold but how he plays.

The recently signed kicker will play his first official game for the Steelers this Friday and colour me curious to see how he performs, it could be a sign for the rest of the season ahead.

KICK AND PUNT RETURNING

I would very much like to see Dri Archer get his hands on the football in the return game more often in this upcoming game.

He had a nice 34-yard return last week, this week I want to see more. I finally want to see Antonio Brown relieved of his return duties, he is our best receiver, arguably the best player on the team, we cannot risk him in the return game any long.

Someone has to take his place and I hope its Dri Archer. Archer showed enough explosion last game, to me anyway, to prove that he is capable of being a great return man and a great addition to this offence.

TAJH BOYD

Tajh Boyd was picked up by the Steelers earlier in the year as a fourth string quarterback, so far I've heard very little about his performance in training camp or practice.

Now this could be a bad sign, perhaps he has not been performing well enough to warrant any media attention but it still has me curious to see what he has to offer.

The guy has a talented skill set, he is mobile and agile, something different to the other quarterbacks on the roster, so I hope he gets some live action against the Jaguars so all of Steeler Nation can see what he brings to the table.

A WIN

Look I know its pre season, but I would like to see the Steelers win this one. The Jacksonville Jaguars aren't the best of teams with their starters, so their backups can't be much better.

The Steelers always seem to struggle to win in pre season and while it means nothing to their overall record or playoff chances, it does contribute to a deflating feeling going into week one of the regular season having lost four or five games straight in the pre season.

Right so there we have it, a few notes on what I would like to see from the Steelers this Friday, my prediction for the game is that the Steelers will win: 14-10 here's hoping that's right and all my wishes above come true also.
