Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has identified Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as an alternative signing to Frenchman Karim Benzema, claims Kike Marin of El Confidencial.
Aubameyang, who is currently plying his trade at German outfit Borussia Dortmund, could yet be the subject of interest from the Gunners in this transfer window, as Wenger goes about improving his options in attack at the Emirates.
It's been widely speculated that the north London outfit are going to add to their striker ranks before the close of the transfer window, with it seemingly appearing that they're ready to bring Real Madrid man Benzema to the club sooner rather than later.

It's far from certain, however, as to whether Real Madrid, under the guidance of Rafa Benitez, will allow the striker to depart the club, which could lead Wenger and Co. to Aubameyang.
Aubameyang would no doubt make quite coup for Arsenal, who will be determined to maintain a Premier League title challenge this term.
Top striker needed
There's no doubt about it, if Arsenal really are serious about making an impact on both the domestic and European scene this season, then they could do with a world-class striker in their side.
Don't get me wrong, the likes of Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott will score goals for Arsene Wenger's side throughout the course of the campaign, but are they really good enough to help the club secure title success?
Alexis Sanchez most definitely is good enough to act as the club's talisman, but one more world-class forward may well give the Gunners the edge.
