PSV Eindhoven will be the more satisfied team after an efficient performance enabled them to secure a 1-1 draw away to Fiorentina in the first leg of their UEFA Cup quarter-final tie.

Adrian Mutu opened the scoring after 56 minutes, proving he is fit again after a knee injury sidelined him for a month, before Danny Koevermans begged what could prove to be the all-important away goal seven minutes later.

PSV started the brighter and should have been ahead as early as the second minute but Koevermans´ header from near the penalty spot was caught by Fiorentina keeper Sebastian Frey.
