Memphis Depay had a glorious chance to open his goalscoring account for Manchester United in the 1-0 win against Aston Villa last night.
The former PSV man was sent through on goal by Juan Mata but his right footed effort was wide, much to the relief of Brad Guzan.
Depay was soon replaced by Ashley Young, and will be thinking of what could have been, as he continues to search for a first competitive goal for the Red Devils.

The miss did not come back to bite United as they comfortably held on to a all three points at Villa Park, and Daley Blind believes it is only a matter of time before Depay finds his shooting boots at Old Trafford.
Talking to mufc.com, Blind said: "“I think it’s a matter of time for Memphis. You've seen how much quality he has and how strong he is. We can see some nice things from him. He’s just got to keep going, he tries very hard and the goals will come for sure.”
MEMPHIS IS THINKING TOO MUCH
A lot has been expected of Depay since his arrival at Old Trafford, but so far he has failed to deliver in the Premier League. We are only two games into the new season and the 21-year-old will need time to adapt to life in English football.
He showed signs of the quality that convinced Van Gaal to bring him to Manchester, but appears to be trying too hard make an impact. This was perfectly summed up by attempted free-kick that ballooned over the crossbar.
There is no doubt he has ability and at such a young age time is on his side. However, United fans will be hoping his performances improve sooner rather than later.
