Ric Flair has commented on John Cena and the possibility of him equalling or surpassing his sixteen world heavyweight championship wins, which he said he would be thrilled if he did.
The WWE Hall of Famer recently did a Q&A session on his podcast, WOOOOO! Nation with Ric Flair, which he was asked several questions on different topics. Definitely worth a listen!
One question that stood out was how he would feel if John Cena tied or even surpassed sixteen World Heavyweight Championship wins, the current leading record which Flair holds.

Cena has the opportunity to break this record if he manages to defeat Seth Rollins in a title vs title match at SummerSlam on August 23. If Cena wins, he would become the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, meaning he would have sixteen World Heavyweight Championship wins, levelling the record.
Flair said: “I’d be thrilled if John Cena tied my record and surpassed it. I think the world of John and he has been the flagship for the company for a long time and if John was to catch that title again and then he can surpass the record, I would be very proud of him.”
There you have it. Humble as always, Flair would be very proud of Cena if he passed his World Heavyweight Championship record.
There have been talks that the Cena and Rollins feud will go further than SummerSlam, possibly as far as Hell in the Cell. If the current United States Champion was able to win, lose, and then win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship again in this time period, he would surpass the record.
However, they may leave this achievement until a bigger pay-per-view like WrestleMania. You can just imagine it now, Cena wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 32, and then Ric Flair comes down the ramp to celebrate with him. What an awesome moment!
