Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon hailed born-again striker Raul as a shining example to his team-mates after the Whites captain moved joint-second on the club´s list of all-time record goalscorers on Sunday.
Raul´s 39th-minute strike in the 3-1 win over Sevilla took his tally to 21 goals in La Liga and the Champions League this season, and saw him join legendary striker Santillana on 290 competitive goals for Madrid - now only Alfredo di Stefano´s tally of 307 goals remains for the long-serving Raul to break yet another record.
"I am delighted with the attitude of Raul. He is a symbol, an extraordinary player who is breaking all the records," said Calderon on his club´s website. "He is living a second youth this season and he is a leader for the rest of his team-mates."
