Mario Balotelli has been told to ditch Liverpool and move to Italian outfit Sampdoria by former international teammate Antonio Cassano.
The ex-Manchester City man’s future has been hotly speculated about in recent weeks, with it now assumed Brendan Rodgers no longer wants the striker in his squad.
The fact that Christian Benteke and Danny Ings were purchased this summer indeed implies that Balotelli’s days are numbered at Anfield, though his next destination remains unknown.

A host of Serie A clubs have been mentioned in connection with possibly taking the 25-year-old on, Sampdoria being one of them, and, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Cassano has been texting the Liverpool man in an attempt to sway his decision.
It’s believed Cassano sent Balotelli a message saying: ‘Come to Samp and you won’t regret it. We’ll do great things together.’
If that text was sent then it could perhaps hint at a transfer involving the striker, with Sampdoria known admirers. It would certainly appeal to Balotelli to return to his home nation, with his second stay in England not nearly so successful as his first.
On the move
The forward’s maiden term in England yielded just four goals across all competitions, so there’s not going to be too many tears shed if and when he departs for foreign shores.
In any case the likes of Benteke, Ings and Daniel Sturridge, when the latter returns from injury, look to be ahead of Balotelli in the pecking order, so he might be well served listening to Cassano after all.
Liverpool fans, do you think Balotelli is definitely going to leave this summer? Let us know in the comments box below.
