Manchester United are not expected to swoop for another defender after missing out on the signing of Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.
This has been claimed by Simon Stone of the BBC, who expects Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal to keep faith with his current back-line, as the club go in search of domestic and European success this season.
United, of course, have endured their defensive problems over the course of the last two years, so it's not entirely surprising that they previously targeted Ramos earlier on in this transfer window.

Now, though, with the Spanish international having signed a new long-term deal at the Bernabeu, Van Gaal will have to make-do with the options at his disposal.
The United boss, of course, has recently placed midfielder Daley Blind in his back-line, so it now appears that the Dutch international could operate in the role for the long-term after helping the club to two clean sheets from their opening two fixtures.
Blind is a worry
Don't get me wrong, you can only admire Daley Blind for stepping into the centre-back role at the start of this campaign, but United fans may well worry if he remains in that position for the long-term.
Ok, he's enjoyed a fine start to the season against the duo of Tottenham and Aston Villa, but is he really good enough to stop some of the best forwards in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
If the Red Devils are serious about overhauling Chelsea at the summit of the Premier League table this term, then they're going to need a reliable back-line. Blind really does have it all to prove.
