Lille defender Nicolas Plestan has been handed a three-month suspended prison sentence and fined 1000 euros by a Lille court for pointing a fake gun at a fellow motorist last April.

According to Le Parisien newspaper, the 26-year-old was accused of threatening a slow-moving 65-year-old motorist, who was travelling with his wife and 18-year-old daughter, while overtaking him on the A1 motorway near the Belgian border on April 14 2007.

A suspended sentence of two and a half months and a fine of 2500 euros had been requested by prosecutors, in addition to damages of 1800 euros to the other driver.
