Keylor Navas could be offered to Manchester United in David de Gea deal

Published 4 Comments

Real Madrid could offer goalkeeper Keylor Navas to Manchester United as they go about securing the services of David de Gea before the close of the transfer window.

This has been reported by Marca, who claim that the Red Devils were in fact interested in Navas last year, so it may well prove a deal that interests them this time round.

De Gea, of course, has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu for some time now, but up until now Real chiefs have failed to come to an agreement with Manchester United over the former Atletico Madrid man.

The Spanish international still hasn't featured for the Red Devils this term, as speculation regarding his long-term future in the game continues to rumble on.

It remains to be seen as to whether the United hierarchy would accept any deal involving Navas in the coming weeks, with Argentine international Sergio Romero currently plying his trade between the sticks at Old Trafford.

Romero questions

But is Romero really good enough to stay on as the United No.1 for the remainder of the season? Ok, in his first two games, following two clean sheets on the bounce, the 'keeper has enjoyed a steady start to life on English soil, but he still has it all to prove.

At 28, he's hardly regarded as one of the top goalkeepers in the world of football, and Red Devils fans will be rightly worried whether his inconsistencies will cost the side as they go in search of success under the Louis van Gaal regime.

Let's be honest, if United are serious about overhauling Chelsea at the summit of the Premier League table and making an impact on the European scene, then they're going to need a stable back-four and goalkeeper. Romero and Co. really do have it all to prove.
