In just four days time, Darren Young and his tag team partner Titus O'Neil will defend their Tag Team Championships.

PTP will be going up against The Lucha Dragons, Los Matadores and former Champions The New Day at Summerslam.

Ahead of the event this Sunday night Darren Young talked about his character and if he would ever play a gay character in WWE in the following post on his instagram account.

Happy As Things Are

He wrote:  "I'm happy with Darren Young and where he stands in the company at present. Even though my character isn't gay, I'm still able to express myself in other ways like when I put my arms up into an equal sign. That's my signature pose and it symbolizes what Darren Young is all about. I'm here, and I do what I do to show everyone that we are all equal.

"Gay, straight, male, female, whatever your race, if you work hard and stay focused, you can make it to the big leagues! As a proud gay man in the WWE, I've always thought my success was entirely due to my skills as an entertainer and wrestler. It had nothing to do with my personal life.

This said, I wouldn't mind if my character turned gay if it's for the sake of having an intriguing yet tasteful storyline, but I wouldn't do that switch if the reason is "just to have a gay character". #blockthehate #spreadtheword #passalong."

Young himself has come a long way since he first made his sexual orientation public back in 2013, many fans thought WWE would now push the superstar as a way to attract more viewers of that demographic, but WWE handled the situation well and he has since become an integral part of the roster.

Young and O'Neil have been praised throughout WWE for their considerable improvement since the company decided to reunite them a few months ago.

Tag Champs

He and O'Neil won their first Tag Team Championships from The New Day back at Money in the Bank before successfully defending them against the trio again at last year's SummerSlam.

With the Tag Team division in WWE becoming a lot more competitive with teams like Enzo and Cass and Blake and Murphy both set to head up to the main roster soon, then The Prime Time Players being at the head of the tag team division as it goes through it's own form of revolution would only help the two as a team.

Lucha Dragons look like a team that has a lot going for them with Kalisto being the one to get the pinfall victory on Monday night Raw this week, in a match that included all four the teams who will fight it out for the Tag Team Championships this Sunday.

Whilst The New Day's popularity has also risen since they began dancing to the ring in a unique way, so it is anyone's guess as to who will be leaving Brooklyn with the titles this weekend.
