The stage is set for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn as the superstars and divas hit the Barclays Center the night before SummerSlam.
This is the biggest TakeOver to date. It’s at a different venue, in a different city in front of a sold out crowd of 13,000 fans.
If anyone can deal with the pressure of pulling off the biggest TakeOver to date, it’s the superstars and divas of NXT.

They have a big task ahead of them though, with a stacked match card they need to ensure the fans leave SummerSlam weekend talking about them, but it won’t be easy. Here’s what I think will go down in the battle for Brooklyn.
BULL DEMPSEY VS ELIAS SAMSON
It’s good to see NXT have pulled out all the stops for this TakeOver. As the guys you don’t expect to see are playing a role on the show, but they deserve it especially as it’s a massive stage.

Dempsey has clearly fallen down the ladder since his feud with Baron Corbin ended, and he now seems to be a face. There’s been a lot of emphasis on Dempsey and his ‘Bullfit’ gimmick and it’s quite popular as well especially with new merchandise being released. This is why I expect Bull Dempsey to pick up the victory.
CARMELLA VS EVA MARIE
There’s nothing really on the line in this match, a loss would do no harm for Carmella. There’s a lot of hype surrounding Eva Marie as she’s set to receive a push, although there’s definitely improvement that needs to be made.
She’s serious about making an in-ring career and she’s been given the opportunity to learn under Brian Kendrick, so I don’t expect her to lose in her first TakeOver; Eva Marie will remain victorious.
ZACK RYDER, MOJO RAWLEY, ENZO AMORE & COLIN CASSADY VS JASON JORDAN, CHAD GABLE, SCOTT DAWSON & DASH WILDER
A massive eight-man tag team match, and again it’s good to see they’re all being given an opportunity to compete. At any previous TakeOver around half of these superstars wouldn’t be competing.
I think the wildcards here as Jordan and Gable. They’re really coming through the ranks and are solid workers and I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them pick up a win for their team. I do think Big Cass and Enzo Amore will receive a ridiculous reaction, so I expect one of them to pick up the win for their team. Ryder, Rawley, Amore and Big Cass to pick up the win.
APOLLO CREWS VS TYE DILLINGER
Finally it’s time for Apollo Crews to make his debut. We’ve been waiting for so long for him to finally compete and at TakeOver he’s going up against an interesting opponent.
Dillinger is the most underrated star on NXT, so usually it wouldn’t be as straightforward as a win for Crews. Considering it’s his debut at a massive stage, I think Dillinger has to pay the price for the hype surrounding Crews. Apollo Crews will pick up the win.
CHARLOTTE VS BECKY LYNCH VS EMMA VS DANA BROOKE
The second of three women’s matches taking place, and on paper it looks great with four of the finest NXT has to offer involve in one match.
Sure, fans would call for Bayley and Sasha Banks to make this match perfect but it shouldn’t be too bad either. I don’t think Charlotte or Becky Lynch will win, because of their alliance on the main roster. I have a feeling that it’ll be Dana Brooke who picks up the win.
BLAKE & MURPHY © VS THE VAUDEVILLIANS – NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
It was strange to see the Vaudevillians receive the title shot over Big Cass and Enzo Amore but it promises to be an interesting encounter. There have been rumours that a new diva could debut alongside Aiden English and Simon Gotch but that remains to be seen.
It’s not an easy one to call down the middle. Both teams are capable of winning and it should be a great contest, but I do think it’s finally time for new champions and the Vaudevillians should walk out with the titles.
SAMOA JOE VS BARON CORBIN
This is Corbin’s first massive test on NXT, coming in the form of Samoa Joe. Corbin has steamrolled through everyone that has been put in front of him but it’s not done him any favours as his limited move-set and lack of microphone skills have been noticed by the fans.
First off, he needs to have a lengthy match and he needs to perform well. Lucky for Corbin, he has a great wrestler standing opposite him. There’s always the chance it could go to a no contest to keep both men looking strong, but if there had to be one winner I think it needs to be Samoa Joe.
SASHA BANKS © VS BAYLEY - NXT WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
Will she drop the title? Only time will tell. Rumours suggest she won’t but at the same time, she’s playing a big part on the main roster, in fact she’s competing the very next night at SummerSlam.
Bayley will be the champion, there’s no denying that her time will come. But it won’t be in Brooklyn. I believe Sasha Banks will retain the NXT Women’s Championship and look strong heading into SummerSlam.
TYLER BREEZE VS JUSHIN ‘THUNDER’ LIGER
Another match which promises to be great. Breeze is a consistent superstar who is always lurking around the main event scene so if anybody deserves to share the ring with a legend, Breeze probably is that man.
Don’t be fooled. Liger may be 50-years-old but let me tell you, he can still move better than half the roster. It’s a massive occasion, one which I think will be pointless if Liger was to lose. Expect Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger to defeat Breeze in his one and only match in the WWE.
FINN BALOR © VS KEVIN OWENS – NXT CHAMPIONSHIP LADDER MATCH
A great stipulation to close off the night. Balor defending the NXT Championship against Owens. On paper when you look at it you’d assume Balor will walk out with the title. With certain rumours going around regarding the NXT tapings, things could be very different.
Owens is competing at SummerSlam as well, so it’s a dangerous match for him to compete in. Even I would say Balor will retain the title but those taping results are too clear to look away from. I can see Kevin Owens walking away with the NXT Championship in Brooklyn.
