Jose Mourinho made a personal plea to Pedro to convince the Barcelona winger to join Chelsea this summer ahead of Manchester United.
That’s the latest claim made by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, who say Mourinho was the decisive factor in the Blues becoming the favourites in the long-winded race for the 28-year-old.
For many weeks now it’s been assumed that it was only a matter of time before United were able to secure a deal for Pedro, with journalists and newspaper from across Europe relaying how the diminutive forward was destined for Old Trafford.

However, this morning fans awoke to the rumour that Chelsea had edged their noses in front with a late hijack, and over the course of the day the train of speculation has picked up a huge degree of speed at an impressive rate.
According to Mundo it was Mourinho’s personal intervention that convinced Pedro to opt for Stamford Bridge, with the Special One keen on bolstering his attacking options following a stuttering start to his Premier League title defence.
Blues lack spark
The Blues lacked a real spark in the final third during their draw against Swansea City and the 3-0 loss to Manchester City, and with Pedro available for as little as £22million a move for him looks to be a no-brainer.
Of course United fans will be scratching their heads as to why Louis van Gaal wasn’t able to get a deal done earlier on in the window when he has the chance. Losing him to Chelsea looks to have solidified any advantage the west London outfit had.
Chelsea fans, are you happy that you could be about to sign Pedro? United fans, are you gutted to have lost out? Let us know how you’re feeling the comments box below.
