David de Gea was left visibly shaken after Manchester United fans hurled verbal abuse at him before their Champions League game against Club Brugge on Tuesday.
A report in The Sun claims the goalkeeper had arrived at Old Trafford too close to kick-off and was among fans as he made his way to the VIP entrance.
His future with the Red Devils has been up in the air for the best part of the last year with many pundits still expecting him to complete a move to Real Madrid before the transfer window closes in 12 days time.

It is obviously all too much to handle for some United fans, who took the chance to make their feelings known when they spotted the 24-year-old outside the ground.
The report claims that De Gea was treated to a rendition of “f*** off you penny-pinching b*****d” as security led him through the growing crowd. Those present claim that the Spaniard was clearly affected by the incident and looked visibly shaken.
Out of the squad
There is obvious frustration with the goalkeeping situation at Old Trafford, but that is not necessarily De Gea's fault. He has been clear about his intentions to sign for Real Madrid since January when he rejected a huge contract extension.
With just 12 months left on his contract, Manchester United could have sold De Gea earlier this summer and found a replacement in time for the start of the new season. However, Ed Woodward has been trying to squeeze every penny out of Real Madrid.
Van Gaal also threw Victor Valdes on the transfer list this summer after claiming the former Barcelona star failed to adapt to his infamous philosophy.
Would you berate David de Gea if you spotted him outside Old Trafford?
