League President Frederic Thiriez has called for a crack-down on racists on the same weekend players donned t-shirts adorned with an anti-racism slogan in protest at the incident that marred the recent match between Metz and Valenciennes.

A fan has been charged with racially abusing VA captain Abdeslam Ouaddou during last weekend´s Ligue 1 game at the Saint-Symphorien.

And on Friday fans of second-division club Bastia unveiled a banner with racist insults before the match against Libourne Saint-Seurin, leading Thiriez to call for tougher measures to combat racism.
