Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Barcelona winger Pedro for a fee of £21.4million.
The Spanish international, 28, had been a target for Blues' Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City, with the former agreeing personal terms before boss Louis van Gaal dropped his interest.
Some reports suggest that Barcelona were frustrated in United's persistence in haggling on a price.

But, Jose Mourinho ensured Chelsea got their man by phoning the winger personally and telling him how he would fit into his squad.
It is thought his former Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas and his girlfriend Daniella Semaan also sounded out Pedro and his wife Carolina Martinez about a move to the capital.
"Happy and excited"
In an interview with the Chelsea FC website, Pedro had this to say: "I am very happy to be here. I am very excited to start my adventure at Chelsea and I am here to keep winning titles.
"Thanks to the club and the supporters for giving me the opportunity to put the blue shirt on."
The Spanish international won an impressive medal haul during his time at the Nou Camp and was the first ever player to score in six competitions in one season, a feat since matched by Lionel Messi.
He scored 99 goals in total for Barcelona, his final goal being the winner against Sevilla in the 5-4 UEFA Super Cup win last week in Tbilisi.
He also won the World Cup with Spain in 2010 and was in the Euro 2012 cup-winning squad, playing in the final against Italy. He also appeared at the 2014 World Cup as Spain crashed out in the group stages. He regularly plays as a central striker for Vincente del Bosque's side.
Pedro's arrival means there could be one or two departures from Chelsea before the transfer window shuts on September 1.
Chelsea boss Mourinho is keen to allow Juan Cuadrado move on, either on an initial loan or a permanent transfer. Juventus are interested but are believed to prefer Julian Draxler of Schalke or Borussia Dortmund's Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Willian is also a rumoured departure from Stamford Bridge; he has reportedly been offered to Bayern Munich or Paris St-Germain.
It's expected Pedro will go straight into Mourinho's match-day squad for the trip to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday as Chelsea look to banish their early season blues and record their first victory of their Premier League title defence.
