Liverpool fans praying for an end to Lucas Leiva’s transfer saga this summer could be about to get their way, with Besiktas director Erol Kaynar having confirmed that a loan deal for the Brazilian could happen within the next 48 hours. Lucas has been frozen out by Brendan Rodgers this term despite having been a leal servant for a number of years, and it’s now believed that he’ll have to find another club if he’s to play regular first-team football this season. It’s Besiktas who are negotiating with the Reds over a transfer, and it can only be assumed that a conclusion is on the horizon. In other news Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed why he turned down the chance to manage the Reds in 2012. When asked by Spanish newspaper Marca why he snubbed Liverpool before working with Everton, Martinez said it was a natural choice.
