Manchester United are preparing to smash both their own and the British transfer record, by making a £60million bid for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller.
United are still seeking to add a world-class forward to their ranks as Louis van Gaal aims to bring domestic and European glory back to Old Trafford, and recent report seem to indicate that he might have found his man in Muller.
The Bayern man has previously played under Van Gaal whilst the Dutchman was in charge at the Allianz Arena from 2009/201 and is reported to still have a very good relationship with his former manager.

Reports in numerous sources indicate that whilst Muller remains interested in any potential move to Manchester, he must be willing to hand in a transfer request if he wishes to force the transfer through.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United have already tabled a £60m bid for Muller, though it was rejected by Bayern, who remain confident that they can persuade him to stay.
If Muller was to hand in a transfer request however, it has been speculated that the fee for him could be in the region of £80m; the same fee Real Madrid paid for Cristiano Ronaldo when he left United for the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2009.
Muller was in deadly form for Bayern last season, contributing 13 league goals and 10 assists in only 28 starts.
He has also previously shone at two World Cups, having been awarded the Golden Boot in 2010 after scoring five goals on his way to a third place finish with Germany, as well as having been awarded the Silver Boot in 2014 for again scoring five goals; this time with Germany winning the tournament.
