WWE: Paul Heyman reveals the real reason he teamed with Cesaro

Published 7 Comments

Paul Heyman is incredible and always delivers an amazing promo when given a mic on Monday Night Raw.

Now working as The Advocate for Brock Lesnar, Heyman trumps up Lesnar's brutish, unnatural ability and adds further fuel to the fire that Lesnar just cannot be beaten.

But, Heyman used to do that even when Lesnar wasn't around. In fact, he would often talk about Lesnar when he was with Cesaro, which Heyman addressed earlier in the week.

Heyman appeared on a live podcast with Corey Graves and Sam Roberts in New York City this week, via WrestleZone, where Heyman explained his brief side-quest with the Swiss Superman.

Ulterior Motives

According to the man himself, Heyman was only set up with Cesaro so he could talk about Brock Lesnar, keeping The Beast firmly in the minds of the WWE Universe while he was contractually obliged to sit at home for months.

Heyman said that the WWE hoped some of the star power, credibility, and spotlight would rub off on Cesaro but unfortunately for the Swiss star, the angle basically reduced him to nothing but a side-show.

Some Positive

However, Heyman went on to add that the run did make Vince McMahon notice Cesaro, adding that he doesn't know how much Vince noticed Cesaro before the night they were paired up.

Heyman said the run was a curse on camera for Cesaro, but not behind-the-scenes, which makes sense as Cesaro went on to become Tag Team Champions with Tyson Kidd, before having his current successful singles run.
