Jonny Evans is being chased by West Bromwich Albion after the Midlands club were priced out of a deal for Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio, due to his wage demands.
The Manchester United defender has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and looks likely to leave the Red Devils this summer.
Evans was left out of the squad for the 0-0 draw with Newcastle United yesterday and is yet to make an appearance for Louis van Gaal's men this season.

The Northern Irish defender was also surprisingly linked with a move to fellow Premier League title contenders Arsenal earlier in the transfer window.
Evans has been at Manchester United all of his career, coming through the academy and has made 198 appearances for the Red Devils in seven years, winning three Premier League titles and two League Cups.
However he was limited to 17 appearances in all competitions last season and has fallen even further down the pecking order following Daley Blind's switch to central defence.
The Mirror are reporting West Brom are interested in an £8 million move for the 27-year-old with Joleon Lescott hopeful of a move away from the Hawthorns.
Chris Smalling has cemented his place at the heart of United's defence, with Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo set to battle it out for the position of left centre back. Phil Jones is also an option, but is currently injured. United also have youngster Patrick McNair and Tyler Blackett in the under-21's.
Evans was a mainstay in the United team between 2011 and 2013, making 70 appearances over two seasons but has lost his place in the side since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
As the central defender approaches 30 years of age he will be looking to play more first-team football and Tony Pulis' side could offer him the best opportunity.
