This past week on RAW, a little joke was made when Byron Saxton called King Barrett and Stardust "The Cosmic Kings".
I can't imagine that any of the WWE Universe will be looking into this too much, but there is a case to be made to input these two into the tag team division. But before we do that, let's have a look at the history of these two performers.
For years on end, WWE have underutilized Cody Rhodes so much that he should have been dead and buried years ago. But somehow, he has made the most of every terrible gimmick that has been thrown his way, including the Stardust gimmick.

He was almost given a chance at the World Heavyweight Championship when he turned babyface back in 2013 and entered a feud with Damien Sandow (another underutilized star) who was the Money In The Bank holder at the time, but then WWE decided to retire the title (worst decision ever) and Rhodes aligned with his brother, Goldust to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship.
After that, he was thrown straight back down to the undercard, so basically Cody Rhodes is an amazing talent who hasn't been booked as well as he could have been.

The same can be said for King Barrett, he was given the "Bad News" gimmick which was awful but Barrett made it awesome. Now if these two can make good out of terrible gimmicks then imagine what they could do if they were used properly.
Many of the WWE universe were annoyed that Barrett never got the big push he deserved after a very successful program with The Nexus. Yes, he is a 5-time Intercontinental Champion, but were any of them reigns memorable? I wouldn't say so.
Nobody is saying that these two should be the face of the business, but a run with the company's top prize should definitely be in the future of both of these stars.
Tag Teaming Up?
Now, to the topic on hand. Does anyone think that Barrett and Stardust should be a heel tag team on a permanent basis? I certainly do. Neither of them will be in any sort of a relevant feud after Stephen Amell and Neville beat them at SummerSlam.
At least by becoming a tag team they will get quality TV time and maybe one day they can feud with each other, hopefully ending with Stardust going back to Cody Rhodes and turning babyface, because let's be honest, the rip-off "Goldust" thing isn't working at all on his own, which is why him and Barrett can remain relevant together.
It's not too late to catapult them into the main event scene, yet. But something needs to happen soon for them or they may both be stuck in no-mans land for the remainder of their careers, and with Erick Rowan and Jey Uso on the shelf, the tag team division is in need of depth.
"The Cosmic Kings" and "The New Day" will be the two top heel teams. Barrett and Stardust don't need to be together forever, a 6-12 month run would be adequate. Maybe a few months with the titles.
