Clinical Marseille stun Spartak

Published Add your comment

Marseille have one foot in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup after scoring three times in the second half to beat Spartak Moscow 3-0 at the Stade Velodrome.

OM took a while to get going in an engrossing last-32 first leg but Benoit Cheyrou´s goal on the hour settled them down, and they were irresistible thereafter.

Taye Taiwo and Mamadou Niang, both recently back from African Nations Cup duty, added further goals as Spartak wilted to leave their hopes of qualification in tatters.
