Two first-half goals handed PSV Eindhoven a 2-0 victory over Helsingborg in a UEFA Cup last-32 first-leg tie which failed to live up to its early promise.

Timmy Simons put his side ahead from the penalty spot after seven minutes and Danko Lazovic double the lead 12 minutes before the break.

But the second half was a drab affair, with PSV protecting the two-goal lead they had already built to take to Sweden.
