Real Madrid have informed midfielder Asier Illarramendi that he is free to find a new club this summer, according to Marca.
The Spaniard was left out of Madrid's squad for their 0-0 season opener against Sporting Gijon last night and is not in new manager Rafa Benitez's plans for the new season.
That has opened up the possibility of a swoop from Liverpool who have been linked with the 25-year-old for some time now.

However they will face competition from Real Sociedad who are keen on taking their former player back just two years after his £32 million switch to the Bernabeu. They will also have to see off a familiar foe in Tottenham, who are also now being linked with the midfielder.
Spurs have endured a slow start to the season and have just two points from their three league games so far.
Although landing a forward remains key for the north London club, boss Mauricio Pochettino has been deploying defender Eric Dier in midfield with Nabil Bentaleb looking out of sorts and Ryan Mason on the comeback from injury.
