David de Gea has been left furious with Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal due to the Dutchman claiming after the 0-0 draw with Newcastle United that the Spaniard wouldn’t be sold.
According to Spanish newspaper AS - who are, admittedly, notoriously pro-Madrid - De Gea’s relationship with his manager has deteriorated further thanks to the 64-year-old’s comments, made in spite of the fact that the goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move away.
The idea of him being sold to Real in the coming days is one that United fans are well versed with. The fact that he hasn’t played a single minute of football for the Red Devils so far this season speaks volumes over the credibility of that rumour.

De Gea miffed
However, when Van Gaal looked to dampen the speculation by stating that his club would not be selling De Gea it appears to have struck a chord with the player, who obviously wants to force through a transfer before the Spanish window slams shut next Monday.
Whether or not that will be possible remains to be seen, with Real and United thus far having been at loggerheads with regards to the fee needed to lift the Spaniard from Manchester.
Issues with a deal
The most recent rumours claim that United want to be paid €40million before they consider letting De Gea leave, though their Spanish counterparts are unwilling to fork out that much since the player in question has a contract that expires next summer.
From the outside looking in it does seem that the idea of De Gea moving on is more likely than him staying, though there’s a long way to go yet in negotiations before any deal can be agreed upon.
United fans, should De Gea just be sold this summer? Is Van Gaal right to put his foot down? Let us know what you think on the subject in the comments box below.
