Turkish club Besiktas believe they have reached an agreement to sign Manchester United’s out-of-favour goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
This is according to The Times, who understand the former Barcelona star has been offered a two-year contract with the option of a third season.
However, it’s currently unclear whether Valdes is interested in a move to the Vodafone Arena in Istanbul. Fenerbahce, who signed Robin van Persie and Nani this summer, also have an interest in the 33-year-old.

The report adds that Besiktas head coach Senol Gunes was initially against the arrival of Valdes due to the fact he would need to replace his current goalkeepers, but the opportunity to sign the hugely-successful Spaniard has proved too irresistible to turn down.
So confident of Valdes’ arrival are fans in Turkey that the current Manchester United ‘keeper is already listed as Besiktas’ No. 1 on their Wikipedia page.
Van Gaal will be pleased to see Valdes leave
Louis van Gaal will certainly have no qualms about selling Valdes to Besiktas. The Dutch coach fell out with the former Barça star last season after he allegedly refused to play in an Under-21 match.
Valdes, who signed an 18-month deal with Manchester United at the start of the year, must have presumed he would become the first-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford following the expected departure of David de Gea this summer.
But his reluctance to play in a reserve match angered Van Gaal, who left the goalkeeper out of Manchester United’s squad for the team’s pre-season tour of the USA.
It’s clearly in Valdes’ best interests to leave United as soon as possible, but will Besiktas offer enough to lure him to Turkey?
