Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has never been interested in the signature of Edinson Cavani from Ligue 1 giants PSG, according to French journalist Pierre Menes of Canal +.
Menes tweeted last night to claim that Wenger has no interest in the Uruguayan forward, despite rumours of the contrary.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a new striker addition in recent time, with reports suggesting the Gunners have lined up Cavani as an alternative to Karim Benzema, who now looks set to stay at Real Madrid for the foreseeable future.

Cavani, of course, has endured a tricky time in Paris of late, failing to secure a regular role up front, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic often taking the central position.
It's not entirely surprising, then, that with Arsenal in need of a new attacker, Cavani has been linked with a move to the Emirates, but it appears that the club won't pursue him anytime soon.
Menes certainly doesn't expect Cavani to sign for Arsenal, as he tweeted: "To be clear Arsene Wenger never wanted Cavani. What a surprise..."
Let's be honest, it's starting to look unlikely that the Gunners will invest in attack before the close of the transfer window. But will they be making a mistake?
Ok, the duo of Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott will score goals in north London throughout the course of the campaign, but they're not going to be good enough to secure the Premier League title for Arsene Wenger and Co.
While Chelsea and Manchester City have the likes of Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero leading their attack, Arsenal are missing a world-class forward, so will struggle to overhaul their two main title rivals at the summit of the division anytime soon. The signing of Cavani would have surely given everyone in north London a huge lift, but that's now seemingly impossible.
