Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny is a major doubt for the Gunners’ game against Newcastle this weekend according to ESPN.
The 29-year-old was absent for the draw against Liverpool on Monday with a back complaint. Calum Chambers will continue to deputise in his place should he miss out.
If he does miss out it would be a major blow for Arsene Wenger, who is likely to be without Per Mertesacker for the game. The French boss was less than impressed with his backline after the 0-0 draw with Liverpool, but will likely have to deploy Chambers and Gabriel Paulista as his central-defensive partnership once more.
Wenger calls Yarmolenko over potential move
Arsene Wenger called Andriy Yarmolenko to see if the Dynamo Kiev forward would be interested in a move to Arsenal - but the 25-year-old replied that he wanted to join Barcelona.
That claim is made by Catalan newspaper Sport, who claim Barcelona will only sign the forward if they are desperate in January. Yarmolenko is on Barça’s radar, although Luis Enrique would also consider a move for Celta Vigo forward Nolito if his side struggle without Pedro in the first half of this season.
Arsenal on alert over Dortmund ace
Premier League trio Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have been put on alert after reports claiming that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski could depart the club before the close of the transfer window.
As reported by talkSPORT, it has been suggested that the English clubs have an interest in the Polish international, who could now leave the Bundesliga behind sooner rather than later.
The report, citing Bild, goes on to claim that Spanish outfit Real Betis are interested in the player's signature, but could be priced out of a move because of the star's wage demands
