Erik Lamela poised for Spurs exit

Published 2 Comments

Tottenham flop Erik Lamela may be close to a move away from White Hart Lane, as reports by Sky Italia suggest Inter Milan are interested in a move for the winger.

The Argentine arrived in north London from AS Roma two years ago for £25.8 million as one of seven players brought to the club after the departure of Gareth Bale.

But he has never hit the form he showed in Serie A though, finding the net just twice in two years, largely struggling to adapt to the English game.

Second choice

Lamela is not the Nerazzurri’s first choice, as they would prefer to land Wolfsburg winger Ivan Perisic. But Manchester City’s pursuit of Kevin De Bruyne means the Bundesliga side will not let both players leave and Inter have been forced to look elsewhere.

The winger’s last season in Italy saw him bag 15 goals and Roberto Mancini may have to splash around £18 million for the player, who became Spurs’ record signing in August 2013.

Spurs targets

With Lamela off the books at Spurs, it may give the green light for Mauricio Pochettino to move for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama, who is thought to be interested in leaving St Mary’s this summer and joining up with his former manager.

The north London side are also still pursuing Saido Berahino as they try to inject life into their stuttering start to the Premier League, taking just two points from their opening three fixtures.
