Just as the WWE Universe was catching its collective breath after a dramatic night of action at SummerSlam, they were hit with a bombshell when Sting made a surprise appearance on Monday Night Raw.
Emerging from behind a black sheet to crush Seth Rollins' hopes of seeing himself immortalised in statue form, Sting went on to run the reigning WWE Champion out of the ring before he was confirmed as Rollins' opponent for a title match at Night of Champions.
Now, two days on from the dramatic events, details of just how the WWE pulled one off the best shock appearances in recent memory with such perfection are beginning to emerge.

According to NoDq.com, Sting, contrary to some WWE fans' beliefs and theories, wasn't part of any last minute switch play and wasn't hiding under the ring in the lead up.
Instead, WWE employees actually forklifted a crate into the ring with Sting inside, and the legendary wrestler was in there the whole time - a fact that is perhaps clear when you notice Sting's iconic make up had been rubbed off when he finally did confront Seth Rollins.
Another interesting note regarding Sting's role this week highlights just how close to the wire the WWE Creative team work.
Far from a long-standing plan, Sting's RAW appearance, and subsequent title match vs Rollins set for the Night of Champions, was only given the green light around six or seven days ago.
Now though Sting has the chance to complete his wrestling legacy and become a WWE Champion - his dedication even to just be able to get in the position to take on Rollins on Monday Night Raw deserves that at least.
