Chelsea to offer Paul Pogba a £300,000-a-week contract

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ready to make Paul Pogba one of the highest-paid players in the world by offering the Juventus midfielder a staggering £300,000-a-week contract.

This is according to the Mirror, who understand Chelsea are confident of signing both Pogba and Everton’s want-away defender John Stones before the transfer window closes next Tuesday.

Chelsea are reportedly poised to make a fresh bid to land Pogba - but may need to pay a British record fee worth £70 million to land their top transfer target this summer.

The report adds that, if successful with the pursuits of both players, Chelsea would take their summer spending to an astronomical £159 million.

Mourinho has already secured the services of Pedro, Abdul Baba Rahman, Asmir Begovic, teenagers Danilo Pantic and Nathan, plus Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan deal. But the Portuguese coach is keen to bolster his squad following an unconvincing start to the 2015-16 campaign.

Paul Pogba move makes sense for Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas has not looked comfortable - not just the season - in a midfield two alongside Nemanja Matic during certain matches.

The plan is to sign Pogba to solidify Chelsea’s central midfield, allowing Fabregas to push up the No. 10 role where he will be flanked by Pedro and the world-class Eden Hazard, just behind central striker Diego Costa.

Pogba favours a move to Barcelona - but with Chelsea’s huge offer on the table and the Catalan giants unable to register new signings until January, the France international might be tempted to accept Mourinho’s generous offer.
