Arsenal may yet have to fend off late interest from Besiktas for backup goalkeeper David Ospina, with the Turkish outfit considering a late move for him if they fail to secure the services of Victor Valdes.
It’s widely expected that Valdes will complete a move from Manchester United to Besiktas in the coming days, with agreements said to be in place following Louis van Gaal’s decision to freeze him out at Old Trafford.
However, Turkish newspaper Fanatik are today promoting the possibility of Besiktas turning to Ospina if for some reason Valdes’ deal falls through - what it would take for that to happen is anyone’s guess.

Naturally Arsenal fans will be forgiven for being sceptical over the chances of the Colombia international leaving the Emirates Stadium, with Wojciech Szczesny already having been farmed out to AS Roma on a season-long loan.
At the moment Arsene Wenger has just Ospina and Petr Cech as his experienced custodians, and whilst the latter is the undisputed number one the former could be equally important should he suffer an injury or experience a dip in form.
Therefore it doesn’t make sense to expect Wenger to entertain negotiations should Besiktas come knocking, although the idea of them doing so is feasible as they look for a stopper with genuine pedigree.
What’s interesting is that Ospina will surely know by now that he’s destined to spend the season on the bench unless Cech is for some reason ruled out of action for a prolonged period.
A transfer to Turkey would be an obvious step down in quality, but it would give him the opportunity to get more minutes under his belt.
Arsenal fans, would Wenger be foolish to let Ospina leave at this late stage? Let us know in the comments box below.
